Look to the future: Why betting futures can have value

A future bet is a wager where the result will occur in the future. By definition all betting can be considered a future bet but it is usually referring to a bet that will take place in the next months or sports seasons.

Wagering on a futures can be risky but the payouts can often be higher. Depending on the sport, team or player you can often find value in futures. In a recent article we explain why betting futures on Tiger Woods has value.

Futures make for some very exciting and interesting bets. Most online sportsbooks offer hefty paychecks to those who are willing to make extreme risks and let their money stay for a while before checking out the results.

The good thing about future betting is it gives a player something to look out for. If you are looking for ways to strike a huge jackpot or hit the prize pool, go for the more serious and traditional form of betting and not with futures – this is only ideal for those who bet entirely for fun.

How much should a player bet? Not much. Don’t risk more then 1-5% of your bankroll unless of course you are willing to spend a lot of money. Never bet on futures where you don’t follow the sport closely because you’ll only end up wasting your money and time.
